Join us at Fulham Boys School for our Y9 Aspirations Afternoon event. It runs on Wednesday 21st November from 1325 – 1600 but feel free to arrive around 1300 if you would like to join us for lunch.

The idea is to inspire our 122 Year 9 (aged 13-14) boys and open their eyes to some of the different career paths that are available. We are inviting in a range of professionals who would be happy to enthuse about their passions and experiences in order that our boys widen their horizons and begin to think about how they make themselves ready for the future.

The format of the conversations you will have will be a ‘speed-networking’ approach. Boys will have three key questions to choose from and each conversation will last 5 minutes. Guests should bring a prop/ object pertaining to their career area as this tends to be an effective way of immediately engaging boys.

We will group guests so that boys have the opportunity to talk to a good range of people but not everyone. We encourage follow up contact and further ‘in-depth’ conversations through visits post-event, at your convenience and where possible.

Do you think you or any of your colleagues would be able to attend? We are (in addition) looking for people with ‘hands-on’ or practical careers and so if you have contacts in skilled manual careers then please forward this email or put us in touch.

The structure of the event will be:

1300: Guests wishing to join for lunch arrive at Beaumont Avenue Wing (W14 9LS) and have informal lunch with all FBS boys

1325: Other guests arrive and register

1330: Hall final preparations for event

1340: guests into hall and seated (need a few minutes to organise props)

1345: Boys make their way to BA hall in house groups

1355: Introduction in hall for guests and boys (122 Year 9 boys).

1400: Speed networking begins. Each house sticks to its row. Boys complete booklet.

1555: Event closes: closing words from Alun if available

1600: Departure of boys (refreshments and networking in Beaumont reception) and guests. BA reception area for informal discussions between boys and guests if wish.
